Every New Beginning...

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end."

We’ve spent the last five years enjoying every second of married life together: traveling, working, relaxing, laughing.  Just the two of us.  Taylor and Alden.  Here we are, at the end of that chapter, just the two of us, and ready to embark on the newest chapter in our lives together… We’re expecting our first baby on December 1, 2011!  Taylor and Alden, plus one.  We can hardly wait to welcome this new baby into the World.  We thought this blog would be a great way to include our very dearest family and friends in Baby Stair’s life and our exciting new journey together, the three of us.

Since this is our first post, we wanted to catch everyone up with our journey thus far.  We first discovered we were pregnant on March 20, 2011. We were in a state of shock at the time – so excited but trying to keep as calm as possible knowing that anything could happen in the early weeks.  We prayed daily those first few weeks and sure enough, God heard and answered our prayers.  We had our first ultrasound on April 15th.

7 weeks, 1 day

There it was, a tiny 4 cm bean with the fastest little heartbeat.  What an amazing sound!  After this, we counted down the seconds until we could find out the gender.  Dr. Joseph didn’t plan to see us again until 20 weeks and we absolutely couldn’t wait that long to find out if this little kidney bean was a boy or girl.  I was convinced it was a boy and Taylor was adamant it was a girl.  Hours passed like days and days passed like weeks.  It felt like an eternity.  We found out about a 3D imaging doctor’s office here in Charleston where we could determine the gender at 16 weeks so decision was made instantly!  We had a 3D ultrasound on June 17th, and…

16 weeks, 1 day

It’s a GIRL!!!  All my dreams of one day having a little girl were going to become a reality.  Taylor was very excited too, although the immediate thoughts of money to be spent on excessive clothing, dresses, bows and other girly necessities may have overwhelmed him a bit.  But we were absolutely thrilled!
Since finding out it’s a girl, we haven't stopped talking about baby names, nursery planning, and what we think this new chapter in our lives will hold.  I am currently in my 34th week of pregnancy and other than the never-ending feeling of fatigue, a little sciatic pain here and there, and a few (ok, maybe a lot of) sleepless nights, everything has gone very smoothly.  To be honest, this pregnancy seems a bit surreal.  I can’t wait to be a mother and watch my husband and best friend be a father to our daughter.  Our girl will be one lucky princess to have the most amazing dad in the entire World.

And in case you were wondering how Baby Stair is growing these days, here is a recent picture of Mama-to-be:
