We've been very overdue for a visit with the Colemans (Leslie, Jeff, Madelyn and new baby Gannon), so we met up with them this weekend for a visit to Magnolia Gardens for the Ladybug event. We made our way across town to the beautiful Magnolia Plantation because we thought Leighton would really enjoy the nature walks and, most especially, the all of the ladybugs! Appropriately, she donned her ladybug dress from Grammy and Papa Jim for the occasion.
We had so much fun. There was sun, music, face painting (which was obviously not L's favorite), flowers, animal petting zoo, games... and then there was rain. And it came after we had walked for an hour across the plantation/gardens to the furthest point from where we started. So what did we do? We made the best of it and danced in the rain.
So what if its raining, this is fun!
All of the kids were all given small jars of ladybugs to take anywhere on the plantation to be released. Leighton was a little hesitant about touching the jar of bugs at first (surprise, right?), but once she figured out what they were, she loved examining them and shaking them up. When we opened them up, she even put her hand in to let them crawl up her arm!
We all had fun despite the rain and it was so good to see friends (and meet baby Gannon)! Leighton crashed for 3 hours after we got home, followed by a fun night with family and friends at the beach house.
Happy girl
Fun with Ms. Susan's iPad games
Night, night everyone!
