Leighton has been urging us for the past few months to get her a new big girl bed like her friends have, so we promised on her third birthday that we would convert her crib to a bed (and also agreed to throw out her night-time pacifier). It took us another month to make the transition but its finally finished as of New Years Day...
We didn't put the bed together yet so the mattress is still on the floor, but L was SO excited all day that she went to at 7:00 pm and we didn't hear from her until 7:30 am this morning. We woke up to Leighton in the monitor, "Daddy? Mommy? Is it morning time yet? Can I get up and come downstairs?" We were amazed at how easily she transitioned! So proud of this big girl.
Update, one month later...
Scratch that. The bed was great the first night, but then there was nap time. Our 2 hour napper and good nighttime sleeper now fights going down for nap everyday and is consistently waking in the middle of the night, which rarely happened in her crib. Two lessons learned here, for any of those considering this anytime soon. One, don't ditch the crib and the nighttime paci at the same time. It's brutal. And two, wait. Wait as long as you possibly can. Don't mess with a good thing. Shouldn't we have learned this by now?!?
