Grammy and Aunt Sherry to the Rescue

It's been a long couple of weeks (or months) in the Stair household. All of the sleepless nights and non-stop action with a new baby and active toddler are exhausting. My mom was a little worried for our sanity, so she surprised us with news last week that she and my Aunt Sherry were coming down to spend this July 4th weekend with the kids and give us some time away. It seriously couldn't be better timing.

Aunt Sherry made it to town a day early, avoiding the nasty impending tropical storm weather on its way up the east coast. We were thrilled to have more time to visit with her and, more importantly, have another day with an extra set of hands to help with the kiddos. Aunt Sherry has passionate energy for kids, especially after spending time so much time with four grandchildren of her own. It took all of 2 minutes after meeting her and Leighton had a new best friend.

As luck would have it, my mom's connecting flight out of Chicago was delayed multiple times on Thursday night, before eventually being cancelled at 11:00 pm.  She was luckily able to be re-booked (through 3 different cities) to get to us on Friday. And of course, she walked in after a long 24 hours of traveling (including an overnight stay on the airport floor) and it was like she didn't even miss a beat!

Then Taylor and I disappeared Saturday morning for our weekend staycation downtown which included pool time in the sun, an afternoon nap (!), pre-dinner cocktails, a delicious dinner out, and a Sunday morning bike ride through the Battery before brunch.

We had an unbelievably relaxing and wonderful time just the two of us. Thank you, Mom and Aunt Sherry, for making the trip down to take over childcare for us for the weekend.  What a special surprise. Love you both so much.
